- Österreichischer Ritterstand 23.7.1870, Diplom 20.5.1871 für den Linienschiffkapitän Moritz FUNK, geb. Proßnitz 1831.
Wappen:
In blauen Schilde zwei aufgerichtete schrägrechte goldene Ruder, welche oben und seitwärts drei goldene Jacobsmuscheln begleiten. - Zwei Helme mit blau-goldenen Decken, auf dem rechten zwei aufgerichtete schrägrechte Ruder, auf dem linken ein geschlossener vorne blauer mit goldener Jacobsmuschel belegter, hinten goldener Adlerflug. - Wahspruch "Perseverantia Provehi".

SCHMIDL, Erwin - "Jews in the Habsburg Armed Forces" (1989), S. 134. - A few years before, Moritz Ritter von Funk (1831-1905) had reached the same rank. Funk had attended the naval academy until 1848. In the following years, he took part in the operations of the wars of 1848/49, 1859, 1864 and 1866. From 1868 through 1871, he headed the "central office" of the war ministry's naval section. In 1871 he was promoted to captain / commodore, enobled, and given command of the ship "Fasana", a corvette. In 1871/72, "Fasana" undertook an important commercial mission to East Asia, visiting Siam (Thailand), China, and Japan. After his return, Captain v. Funk contributed to a new naval manual. Highly decorated, he retired in 1881."

RUBIN, E[li] - "140 Jewish marshals, generals & admirals", London 1952. - "Battleship Commander Moritz Ritter von Funk. - He was born in Vienna in 1831, and took part in the campaigns of the years 1848, 1859, 1864 and 1866, and for his military exploits was awarded the following decorations: Cross for Military Merit, Knight's Cross of the Order of Leopold, Komtur Cross of the Order of Francis Jospeh, Commander Cross of the Danish Order of Danebrog, Royal Prussian Order of the Red Eagle, Commander Cross of the Order of the House of Hannover, Imperial Ottoman Medschidije Order, Royal Greek Order of the Redeemer, Siamese Order of the Crown, etc., etc. - He fought in the campaign of 1848-49 on board the Fregate "Bellona" and took part in the campaign of 1866 as Captain of Fregate. - After the war, from 1868 to 1871 he was Chief of the Naval Department of the Austrian-Hungarian War Ministry, afterwards promoted Battleship Commander and was raised to nobility. - In July, 1879, he was awarded the Komtur Cross of the Order of Francis Joseph for "his special merits for the Austrian-Hungarian Navy" and in 1881 he was pensioned. - He died in 1905 in Trieste.
